Working Holiday on Otaru Project

” Whoop it up!”

WHOOP is “Working Holiday on Otaru Project”. The meaning is “Let’s long term stay while working as a exchange helper in Hokkaido Otaru. “



“Cultural Exchange”

The MorinoKi helper is to exchange your hostel charge for work several hours at the hotel.Good for long stay traveler, and Working Holiday Maker.You can learn Japanese here.

In WHOOP, the exchange of “Working” and “Stay” is not only the aims. This most important aim is “Cultural Exchange. ”It is cultural exchange between the helper and the MorinoKi staffs, the helper and the traveler, helper and the local people.



 

The Requirements for WHOOP
  • Recruitment Period: All the time
  • Stay: 7 days or 1 month (Extension possible. Consultation necessary. )
    • Weekly whooper: OK for beginners.
    • Monthly whooper: for ex-helper at Morinoki or guest of staying before.
  • Persons: 1 – 2
  • Work Time: About 4 hours (Mainly 8AM to 12PM)
    • Looking after of the hostel sometimes.
    • Work overtime sometimes.
  • Activities: Bed making, Cleaning, Gardening, and Blog Diary, etc.
  • Requirement information for whoop:18 – 35 years old (Men or women, any nationality)
    1. Priority to ex-helper at Morinoki or guest of staying before.
    2. Personality: Tidy, Creative, Sense of Humor, Careful Consideration, chatty, Curiosity, anyway Loving of Dog and Cat.
    3. Nonsmoker is better.
    4. [In Winter] a person who is NOT “sensitive to the cold”.
    5. [NG Personality] No Hello. Withdrawal in the bedroom. No communications. Careless Consideration. Untidy.
  • Bed Room: Dormitory
  • Notes:
    1. No pay, No meal. (You can use Kitchen.)
      • You can use Kitchen. You make your own meals.
      • Usually, you have free bread for breakfast.
      • Often, we have a lunch together on weekdays.
      • Sometimes, we have a dinner together.
    2. If you want stay over 7 days, we decide it after you work once.
    3. You can change the Monthly Helper, after the weekly helper. (Upon request)
    4. We might cancel your stay even during the term of a contract.
    5. You must write the diary of Blog every day. (You may write in English.)

JR Hokkaido Working Holiday Pass

The JR Hokkaido Working Holiday Pass is a rail pass available only for foreigners from abroad who are living and working in Japan on a “Working Holiday” visa. It allows pass holders unlimited rides in the reserved seating sections on ordinary cars of Ltd. Exp., Exp., and Local Trains.

Eligibility:

The JR Hokkaido Working Holiday Pass is available for purchase only to those who with a “Special Activities Visa Alien Registration Card” and Working Holiday Permit( or copy), or persons with a passport with the permit stamped inside.

Please present all or one of the above mentioned when you purchase your pass. Purchases by a proxy are not allowed. Only the person who’s name is written on the pass may use it. The pass cannot be used if when at the time of use the holder’s visa status is not a “Special Activities (Working Holiday) visa. Also, please be sure to present your Alien Registration Card of Passport when asked by the staff to do so.

Range of Use:
  • Free embarkation and disembarkation of reserved seats on special express, express, and local trains of the Hokkaido Railway Company.
    (*Green Cars, Sleeper Cars, and the Exp. Hamanasu Carpet Car require the separate purchase of a reserved ticket for the Green Car, the express, the special express, or sleeper car.)
  • You cannot use the Homeliner or JR Hokkaido Buses.
  • When using a reserved seat, please get a ticket issued at JR stations in Hokkaido, Travel Service Centers, beforehand. If the reserved seating is fully booked, you will use unreserved seating.

Sale Term:

From 1 month before date of travel to the same day of travel

Modifications:
  • Before travel starts, the start date of the ticket can be changed one time.
  • Trains may be changed an unlimited number of times, when done before the departure of the train on which seats have been reserved.
Return Policy:
  • During the period of validity, as well as before the usage start date, the ticket may be returned at a sales location, minus a handling fee of ¥760.
  • There are no refunds after usage has started, notwithstanding train delays or stoppage.
Caution:
  • Pass will not be reissued if lost.
  • Only persons with a pass bearing the pass holder’s name can use the pass.

  • If you are late for check-in time, you have to telephone me by 6:00 p.m. on the day. Your reservation is canceled when there is no connection from you.
  • We can keep your baggage here before check-in time. But, it is a charge for your baggage. (100 yen)
  • When you do the check-in in the morning, you may not go into the bedroom. After bed‐making, you can use it.
  • It is cleaning rooms in the hostel from 9:00 to 13:00 . Thank you for your cooperation.
  • After the check-in, you can use the shower and kitchen, etc.
  • When you check-in before arrival time, we may make a hostel absence.
  • When your check-in passes over arrival time, be sure to contact us. Your reservation may be canceled.
